WASHING

Our hand-woven rugs are fully washable and reversible.  When your rug becomes dirty the first wash would be in fact to turn it over and use the other side.  Our rugs are designed to be easy wash items.  Home based washes with cold water and mild liquid soap are all that is needed.

Our rug colours are made colour fast before we weave.  When a wash becomes necessary please follow the instructions below.

1. To err on the side of caution it is recommended that prior to the rug’s first wash, you let the rug soak in a tub of cold water with two cups of salt added to it for at least two hours. (Only necessary for the first wash).
2. For the second wash you hand scrub with a gentle brush and a mild soap using a hose pipe or also in a tub.
3. Do not use any detergent or bleach of any sort.

DRYING

1. Never hang the rug up on a washing line – this may cause stretching of the warp.  A flat, deck-type surface with air flow underneath is best.
2. Place the rug in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.  Our rugs do absorb lots of water, so be aware that drying might take some time.
